Will cannabis be legalized, decriminalized, or rescheduled in the United States? It is useful as medication, meditation, relaxation, inspiration, recreation, religion, fuel, food, clothing, building material, paper, oxygen, and has many more uses. It is non-lethal (impossible to overdose on), non-addictive (physically). It is a victim-less crime, yet millions are in prison for marijuana charges in the United States. We spend billions of dollars enforcing this law, which was made a law under false reports of addiction, violence, overdose, and madness. Hemp is illegal to grow, though it is not a controlled substance and is not used as a drug. Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug, yet it has medical benefits, is safe, and is not as addictive as caffeine or tobacco. The ‘gateway drug’ theory is only plausible because people have to buy marijuana from drug dealers, which gives them a connection to other illegal drugs. Many underage people claim it is easier to buy marijuana than tobacco or alcohol, because drug dealers do not care who they sell to. It is time to legalize, regulate, and educate.
