As you may already know signup to google plus is still through invites sent by other google+ users. Last week google gave away 150 invites to selected google plus users inorder to invite their friends or family.

We shared the 150 google plus invites with our readers and amazingly our readers grabbed them in under 2 hours. Likewise many other users shared their invites through email. Since most of the users are on facebook, they decided to share the same through the facebook links with their friends. Unfortunately quite a lot a of facebook users have reported that the links were not showing upon on their friends pages. (One important point we all must note here is that, the link we are talking about will allow any user to signup for a new google plus account)

There could be quite a lot reasons this could have not worked. One of the reason could be, the google plus invite link has encoded characters that could have triggered facebook’s spam protection and could have blocked sharing the links with others or it could be a bug or the worst case could be blocked by url. (We already know facebook is pretty hard on spam which might be a good thing)

Facebook has issued a public statement as follows which is inline with our theory

Links have a history of the most abuse and are given the most scrutiny. As a result of all of these factors, a given link may be shown or filtered to people differently at different times

We couldn’t independently verify this as we ran out of invites just in 2 hours. We kindly request our readers to share their own experiences with our community.
